Letters to Pituncarty

Letter to Christian Buist, who lived at Pituncarty on the Macquarie River, Tasmania, unlock a tantalising glimpse into the life of her family: her brothers Robert Taylor (Valleyfield), David Taylor (Winton), John Taylor (St Johnstone) and her sisters Mary Davidson (Glen Moray and Cassieford), Jean Alston (Auchlochan) and Isabella Hutcheson (Runneymede Station).Two of Christian's daughters attended Ellinthorpe Hall run by Hannah (Davice) Clark, wife of George Carr Clark. Some 30 letters written at the school are included in this volume, along with an account of life at the school and short biographies of over 60 girls who were pupils there, some of whom went on to marry famous and influential men.
